Meet Mrs. Wise!

Hello! My name is Karissa Wise and I am honored to be your kindergartener’s teacher this year! Kindergarten is extremely near and dear to my heart; it is where a love for learning begins, and I am so lucky to be on this journey with your child!

I have been married to my husband, Kyle, for 9 years. We have two children that will also attend NExA this fall: our son, Beckham, starts second grade and our daughter, Kennedy, is entering kindergarten!  I grew up in Coeur d’Alene and recently moved back to the area after living in multiple states supporting my husband’s military and helicopter pilot career.  Being back in North Idaho, teaching in my hometown, is something I value deeply! I received my bachelor’s degree in education through Lewis-Clark State College, and my master’s degree in curriculum and instruction of reading through Grand Canyon University. I have a passion for reading and for teaching young children foundational reading skills so that they become lifelong readers!

This will be my third year teaching at NExA, and my second year teaching kindergarten. In my opinion, there is no better grade to teach and no better school to teach at! I enjoy teaching at NExA because we provide an inclusive, authentic, and hands-on education where each child is valued and loved.

When I am not teaching, I love spending quality time with my children, husband, and family. We love being active outdoors: hiking, camping, or being out on the lake. We also fill our days with music, dancing, books, and soccer!
